Crossing Healthcare partners for Healthy Food Distribution

March 30, 2018

Crossing Healthcare partnered

with Kroger Co., Illinicare Health, AT&T and Northeast Community Fund to offer Healthy Food Distribution on March 29 at Crossing Healthcare in honor of National Nutrition Month.

"We know there's a lot of food insecurity in Macon County, especially during certain times of year," stated Dr. Dana Ray, Chief Medical Officer at Crossing Healthcare. "This is our opportunity to help people during some tough times."

With the help of amazing volunteers,

we gave out over 13,000 pounds of food to 328 households. The distribution event allowed patients and community members to receive free, healthy groceries to help fill the fridge for Easter Sunday. In total, we were able to provide healthy food to 1,238 Macon County individuals. We distributed ham, eggs, milk, carrots, potatoes, onions, apples, oranges, whole wheat pasta and green beans.

Crossing Healthcare and the partners thank all of the volunteers and partners who joined us in increasing access to healthy food in our community through this one-day event.
